Although it’s difficult to mention all the natural spots and villages full of charm that you are sure to find in Ibiza, today we want to show you some of the ones that will surprise you for keeping their essence intact, as well as for their infinite beauty.
Get ready to discover cobbled streets, whitewashed houses and people who know how to embrace you with their souls. Today, we travel through Es Cubells, Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera and Sant Carles de Peralta, three of the prettiest and undoubtedly most charming villages on Ibiza.
Es Cubells
Es Cubells is a beautiful village located in the south of Ibiza, forming part of the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. This small town stands out for its unique natural heritage, with small and beautiful coves, spectacular cliffs and incomparable views. Although it only has a few inhabitants, a visit to this town is a must.
Here, you’ll find the Church of Our Lady of Carmen, a small whitewashed church that preserves the traditional style of the island’s architecture and whose construction was completed in 1958.
There is also a small supermarket, some bars, a sports centre, a cultural centre dedicated to theatre and a beautiful children’s playground that houses a sculpture dedicated to Francisco Palau, the Carmelite who promoted the construction of the church and who lived for long periods of time isolated on the islet of Es Vedrà. The best thing, without a doubt, is the peaceful atmosphere and the calm that you can breathe in when strolling through its narrow streets. So, if you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you!
To enjoy the unbeatable views, access the highest part of the cliff so that you can enjoy an excellent panoramic view. There, you’ll find the skeleton of a traditional fishing boat, known in Ibiza as a llaüt.
And, as if that were not enough, you always have the option of visiting the beaches that form part of the parish of Es Cubells, located at the foot of the cliffs. Cala Llentrisca, Porroig and Es Torrent are some of the most outstanding ones.
Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera
From the coast of Ibiza, we move inland to Santa Gertrudis, a small village that stands out for its beautiful church built at the end of the 18th century, its whitewashed white houses and a wide variety of bars and quality restaurants.
It’s a typical Mediterranean village, with a certain bohemian air, which welcomes countless visitors both in winter and summer. Here you can take a pleasant, unhurried stroll, enjoying the friendly atmosphere and the antique and craft shops. It’s a good place to get away from the crowds and enjoy a relaxed and peaceful dinner.
Sant Carles de Peralta
Sant Carles is a small town in the north of Ibiza, surrounded by fields of carob, almond and fig trees, and known for being home to some hippie communes during the 1960s. There is no denying that the rural setting that surrounds this village, with its fields and traditional Ibizan farmhouses, is magnificent.
However, despite being a small town, it’s notable for its incessant cultural activity. Concerts, exhibitions and all kinds of events take place here, making Sant Carles a meeting point for many tourists and locals in search of a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
If you’re determined to visit this small town, don’t hesitate to go to Bar Anita, better known as Ca n’Anneta, a good place to have lunch and taste its popular Ibizan herbal liqueur.
In addition, every Saturday during the summer months, Sant Carles hosts the Las Dalias street market, one of the most emblematic on the island and a hotspot also not to be missed.
