Ibiza with a view: enjoy the 5 best, most charming viewpoints

The island of Ibiza – it really couldn’t be any other way – is the perfect place to awaken your skin-deep senses. And perhaps the best way to do this is to watch the sunset from a special place. Ibiza has a number of viewpoints that turn any sunset into a sublime and unforgettable sight.

From any of them you can wait patiently for the sunset, enjoy the silence while gazing at the horizon, enjoy the hypnotic landscape or simply relax while the sea breeze caresses you. A prerequisite: don’t be in a hurry. Ibiza invites you to relax and stay calm while you take everything in and get to know it in detail. These are the 5 best viewpoints on the island which, of course, you can’t miss!

Rey Jaume viewpoint, in the heart of Ibiza

The King Jaume I viewpoint, also known as the Cathedral viewpoint or Dalt Vila viewpoint, is the perfect place to enjoy stunning views of the city of Ibiza. It is located in the heart of the old town, in the Cathedral square, and is ideal for a stop after a stroll through the island’s historic centre.

The panoramic view of the city, the seaport, the La Marina neighbourhood and Sa Penya are fantastic. A good alternative is to visit the viewpoint at night and allow yourself to be amazed by the apparently peaceful night views, completely bathed in the city lights.

Sa Talaia viewpoint, the highest point on the island

The Sa Talaia viewpoint is located in the municipality of Sant Josep, on a 475-metre promontory which is the highest point on the island and, as such, offers spectacular views. From here you will get a good panoramic view of the whole island, the island of Formentera and, on clear days, you can even see the coast of Valencia.

You can drive almost all the way to the top, but it’s a good opportunity to take a bike ride or walk up and enjoy the scenery. There is a path that starts in the centre of Sant Josep and climbs up to the viewpoint. We recommend going up early in the morning, before the typical misty weather prevents you from enjoying the views.

Torre des Savinar in the Cala d’Hort nature reserve

The Torre des Savinar viewpoint is also known as the Pirate Tower, Era des Mataret or Torre des Cap des Jueu. It is a defence tower located in the nature reserve of Cala d’Hort, which holds a great variety of the island’s flora and fauna. From here, you can see the islands of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell, as well as a panoramic view of the entire natural environment around you.

To reach this viewpoint, take the road from Sant Josep de Sa Talaia to Cala d’Hort. Before reaching the beach, you will find a path on the left that leads to the cliff at the foot of the Savinar tower. It is a beautiful excursion, approximately twenty minutes on foot, which will allow you to access the tower and enjoy one of the best sunsets on the whole island. It is well worth it!

Puig de Missa, a viewpoint with history

You will find the Puig de Missa viewpoint in the Santa Eulalia area. It is crowned by a fortified church that was built in the 16th century, as well as by a group of old white houses constructed in the traditional Ibizan style. At the top of Puig de Missa you will also find the Barrau Museum, a small whitewashed white house with blue doors and windows, which until 2011 housed the legacy of the Catalan Impressionist painter Laureà Barrau.

From the viewpoint you can enjoy beautiful views of Santa Eulalia, the fields and, overall, the entirety of the island’s northern horn.

Cap Negret viewpoint: calm and harmony in Ibiza

The Cap Negret viewpoint is located a few kilometres north of Sant Antoni del Portmany, near the beaches of Cala Gració and Punta Galera. These are impressive cliffs from which watching the sunset can be a truly moving experience.

It is the ideal place to observe the surroundings, stop for a moment and simply breathe. Its views of the sea, the island of Sa Conillera and Cap Nunó are simply breathtaking. Discovering the island of Ibiza from viewpoint to viewpoint can be really astonishing and will also allow you to get to know the island from another perspective. Are you up for it?
