This market was established in the summer of 1973, when hippies from around the world arrived on the island of Ibiza and began selling their handmade crafts. Back then, this place was just a large open field with a small bar, known as El Hobbit, where some hippies would gather to sell their crafts to tourists.
Over time, this area developed into what it is today, and the market tradition has stayed alive. Nowadays, wandering through its tree-lined streets packed with people is a real treat for both locals and tourists. It’s become a must-visit on the island.
The market is spread along the streets of the Club Punta Arabí urbanization. Here you’ll find over four hundred stalls where all sorts of artisans and artists offer their handmade creations. Among the most common items are crafts, jewellery, decorations, antiques, musical instruments, and a wide variety of products brought from different parts of the world.
And if you’re looking for Adlib clothing with a hippy twist, this is the place to be! There are many stalls selling typical Ibiza dresses, skirts, blouses, and shirts made from soft, cool fabrics with a distinctive Ibiza essence.
The stalls stretch under the shade of a large pine forest, making wandering through its little streets a delight, even in the heat. To fully experience it, set aside a few hours because, in addition to shopping, there’s a wide and varied range of leisure and entertainment options.
What to Do at the Punta Arabí Market?
Aside from a variety of craft stalls, at the Punta Arabí Market you can enjoy art exhibitions and even watch artists and craftsmen work live. It’s always fascinating to see how leather workers or macramé artists create their unique pieces.
Head over to the Ágora Lounge, the market’s central space, where you’ll find a large multicultural tent. Here, from two to four in the afternoon, you can enjoy a diverse and varied musical offering, with afro-reggae sessions and live African dance performances, as well as caricaturists, tarot readers, tattoo artists, living statues, and shows with performers and percussionists.
Scattered throughout the market, there are plenty of cafes, bars, and restaurants where you can take a break, grab a drink, or have a bite to eat. The Hobbit Bar, Pizzería Capricho, and La Chumbera are just a few of them.
And if you’re on the island with little ones, don’t worry! From June onwards, the Es Canar market features the Hippy kids, a children’s area where the little ones can have fun designing their own T-shirt, creating a personalized flower crown, or doing various crafts. They’ll also enjoy face painting and other children’s activities that will undoubtedly keep them entertained for a while. It’s your chance to relax!
Next to this children’s area, you can’t miss a walk through El Bosque, a shaded area with various lively and colorful stalls offering crafts from different parts of the world.

Location and Hours of the Punta Arabí Market
This market, located in the most touristy area of Es Canar, a few kilometres from Santa Eulalia del Río, opens in April and stays open until well into October, attracting thousands of visitors and tourists of different nationalities.
You can visit it on Wednesdays from ten in the morning until six-thirty in the evening, and on Fridays from six in the evening until midnight.
If you want to take a break after your shopping and explore some nearby beautiful places, you can head to Cala Martina beach, where you can take a stroll, cool off, and relax. Right next to this beach, you’ll also find Cala Gat, a beautiful beach with clean, clear waters, surrounded by pine and juniper trees, known for its tranquility and low tourist traffic.
How to Get to the Es Canar Hippy Market
The Punta Arabí Market is located in the southern part of Es Canar, north of Santa Eulalia. To get there from Ibiza city, take the road towards Santa Eulalia del Río and, once there, follow the signs to Es Canar at one of the last roundabouts.
Once in the tourist area of Es Canar, head towards the sea and turn right just before getting there. However, just follow the signs that will easily lead you to the market.
If you don’t have your own vehicle, you should know that you can also reach Punta Arabí by public bus or even by boat, disembarking at Cala Martina. This way, you’ll arrive at the Punta Arabí Market in just a few minutes.
