The markets are an example of the island’s free spirit. They also offer a wide variety of different products, most of them handmade, such as jewellery, clothes, typical island products and decorative items, among many others. We invite you to discover Ibiza’s local treasures through its street markets.
Sant Rafel street market, 8 kilometres from Ibiza
San Rafael de Sa Creu, or Sant Rafel, is a small town located between the cities of Ibiza and San Antonio. Here you can find a fabulous 18th-century church, as well as a colourful display of handicrafts. This flea market is located in the church square on Thursdays from 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm from June to September.
Here you will mainly find Ibizan handicrafts, ceramics and locally produced organic food. All the market stalls are staffed by island-based artists and artisans, with whom you can chat and exchange views. You’ll also be able to watch a variety of Ibizan artisans at work; a great way to keep the essence of traditional crafts alive.
Las Dalias, Ibiza’s most famous street market
Ready to enter Las Dalias? Las Dalias market is located in the town of San Carlos, approximately 20 kilometres from Ibiza’s city center. With more than 200 stalls, it is nowadays known for being one of the most famous markets on the island. Here you will find clothing and craft stalls, as well as bars and restaurants, amidst coloured lights, background music and a bohemian atmosphere.
During the months of June to September it is open on Mondays and Tuesdays, and also on Sundays in August, from 19:00 to 1:00 in the morning. There is also a daytime version of the market on Saturdays from 10:00 am.
Sant Joan street market: enjoy a great gastronomic offer
In the square of Sant Joan de Labritja, in the northwest of Ibiza, you’ll find this street market on Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm and on Sundays from 10:30 am until 4 pm.
Its stalls house handicrafts, typical island products and organic food. Large crowds of tourists and visitors move between stalls in search of freshly picked produce from the neighbouring orchards, as well as cakes, sweets, preserves and jams.
Sant Joan is one of the Ibizan markets with the most eclectic atmosphere. Here you will find everything and for all tastes. From 12:00 onwards you can enjoy live music, being the aperitif time when the terraces of the bars and restaurants fill up to capacity.
These are just a small sample of the many street markets you can find in Ibiza. Others that are worth mentioning are the Es Canar market, near Santa Eulària; the Sant Jordi market, just three kilometres from Ibiza; or the Forada market, in the Santa Inés area. A different hippie market for every day of the week! Which one is your favourite?
