Visiting a winery in Ibiza is a good plan to do at any time of the year. You should know that as well as enjoying its beaches and nightlife, Ibiza is also a land of vineyards, routes, landscapes and wine tasting.
Thanks to the island’s climate, the effort and passion of the producers, the wines of Ibiza have been distinguished by their great personality, positioning themselves among the best.
Due to its climatic conditions, the most favourable areas for vine growing are those of Santa Gertrudis, San Mateo and Santa Inés, in the centre and northwest of the island. If you want to know more about the best wine tourism routes and wine cellars, don’t miss out on our recommendations.
Sa Cova Winery
This winery is the oldest in Ibiza and is located in the region of Sant Mateu d’Aubarca, the area with the highest wine production on the island.
With ten hectares dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards and a production of more than 20,000 litres of wine, Sa Cova has become one of the most prestigious wineries in Ibiza.
You can take a guided tour and wine tasting session upon reservation. Take the opportunity to contemplate the landscape, where the green of the vineyards contrasts with the white of the whitewashed houses. Without a doubt, a formidable experience, reserved for lovers of good wine.
Can Maymó Winery
This winery is located in the town of Sant Mateu, in the north of Ibiza. It is a small family winery founded in 1995 which, using the latest technology, produces select wines, perfect for any occasion.
Can Maymó is renowned for the production of high quality wines, with grapes of the native varieties of Monastrell and Malvasía. The Merlot, Tempranillo and Syrah varieties have been added to these.
Can Rich Winery
Can Rich, located between Sant Antoni and Buscastell, is the largest winery on the island. It is worth a visit for its extensive wine production, olive oil and herbal liqueur.
It has an estate of forty hectares, divided between the cultivation of vines for the production of wine, and olive trees for the production of olive oil. It is worth mentioning that the production is one hundred per cent organic, avoiding the use of herbicides or pesticides.
The result is none other than high quality wines and oils. The bodega also stands out for the production of a fabulous herbal liqueur, a distillate of aniseed macerated with more than fifteen typical Ibizan herbs, which is simply delicious!
Bodega Ibizkus
Located on the road that runs between the towns of Ibiza and Santa Eulalia, this winery was founded in 2007 and has become a benchmark.
Ibizkus produces high quality wines, whether red, rosé or white, mainly from local varieties such as Monastrell or Malvasía.
You can take a guided tour of the winery’s facilities and taste five Ibizkus wines. You can also enjoy pairing them with ham, cheese and cold meats.
Visiting a winery in Ibiza is an excellent option for autumn days. Contemplate the orange, ochre and yellow tones of the wine landscapes and taste some of the most select and exclusive productions. There’s nothing like a glass of good wine!
