The 4 best routes to discover Ibiza by motorbike

Travelling by motorbike is practical, comfortable and also gives you an unbeatable feeling of freedom. That is why touring Ibiza by motorbike can be, without a doubt, one of the best ways of getting to know the island.

Due to its limited extension, short distances and all year round mild climate, travelling around the island on a motorbike or scooter is a very good idea. You can reach beaches and coves that are difficult to access, and you can park almost anywhere, which in the middle of August is certainly an asset.

There are endless routes to do on motorbike in Ibiza. We suggest four of them so you can get the most out of the island and discover its most beautiful spots. Are you ready for a life changing experience?

Motorbike route through the Ses Salines natural park

There are those who say that the south of Ibiza has it all. In addition to many other attractions, the southern part of the island is synonymous with wealth and biodiversity, thanks to the Ses Salines nature park which is located in the south of Ibiza and north of Formentera.

It is a natural space that constitutes a resting and nesting area for migratory birds and it also has an incalculable natural and scenic value.

Ses Salines was declared a natural park in 2001 and a World Heritage Site in 1999. The entrance is located near the town of Sant Jordi de Ses Salines, the starting point of this route. A good option is to ride a motorbike around the salt ponds where you’ll meet the local flamingos and discover the beaches of Es Codolar or Es Cavallet, the cove of Sa Sal Rossa, the church of Sant Francesc, the defensive towers of Es Carregador and Ses Portes or the interpretation centre of the Ses Salines natural park.

Route to discover the town of Ibiza by motorbike

One of the must-see places on the island is Ibiza Town.

You will discover its historic walled centre, better known as Dalt Vila; the old fishermen’s quarter or La Marina quarter; the port of Ibiza, with its lively atmosphere at any time of day; the necropolis of Puig des Molins, declared a World Heritage Site, the village of Jesús or the beaches of d’en Bossa and Talamanca, among others.

And if you do the tour on a motorbike… even better! Especially during the hot summer days.

Motorbike route along the coast

In Ibiza, you will find many charming beaches and small coves that are well worth a visit. It’s only natural that there’s no shortage of beaches with more than 200 kilometres of coastline. Travelling by motorbike will allow you to access all of them quickly, comfortably and without parking problems.

You can start with the beaches on the south coast of the island, where we recommend you visit Sa Caleta, Las Salinas beach, Playa d’en Bossa, Es Cavallet, Porroig, Cala Jondal and Cala d’Hort, among many others.

If we take into account that between the two ends of Ibiza, from north to south, there are about 40 kilometres, you will understand that it is an easily accessible island, and discovering it by motorbike can really be a fantastic option. To explore the north coast, you can start in the town of Sant Antoni de Portmany. You cannot miss out on visiting the coves of cala Xarraca, Aigües Blanques, Benirràs, Santa Eulalia, cala Llonga, cala Nova, cala Llenya, cala Salada or Portinatx.

Motorbike tour of the inland villages

Beyond the party nights and crowded beaches, there is another Ibiza ready to welcome quiet souls in search of peace and calm.

Inland Ibiza is the most rural and unknown part of the island. It is home to some small, sparsely populated and truly authentic villages. This is the case of Santa Agnès de Corona, a village full of almond trees which belongs to Sant Antoni and where time seems to have stood still. You can also visit the village of Sant Mateu d’Aubarca, very close to Santa Agnès, where you can visit the beautiful vineyards or go wine tasting in one of its cellars.

Other interesting villages are Sant Joan de Labritja and its Sunday craft market; and Sant Carles de Peralta, with its whitewashed houses and some authentic, bohemian hippies. You can take the opportunity to visit the Sa Mala Costa mountain range, between Sant Joan and Sant Vicent de Sa Cala. As you can see, whatever you’re looking for, it’s impossible to get bored in Ibiza on a motorbike!
