Cala d’Hort, located in the southwest area of Ibiza, in the municipality of San José, is one of those beaches that is worth visiting, even if it’s just for its magnificent views.
Situated in the Natural Park of Cala d’Hort, Cap Llentrisca, and Sa Talaia, facing the islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell, this beach is one of the best spots to enjoy an unparalleled sunset. Here are all its charms.
Cala d’Hort, a beach with white sand and crystal-clear waters
Cala d’Hort is a spacious beach, situated just eight kilometers from the town of San José. With its crystal-clear waters and the unmistakable silhouettes of the islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell, you’ll recognize it right away. Although it’s becoming increasingly popular due to its tranquil and family-friendly atmosphere, it’s perfect for families. During peak season, we recommend avoiding weekends due to the large influx of tourists.
It’s important to note that while one end of the beach is dominated by fine sand, the other end is rocky. In this rocky area, on windy days, the waves can be quite strong, making it a reference beach among surfers. The beach has several restaurants, clothing stores, as well as a rental service for sunbeds and umbrellas. But what this beach is best known for is its sunsets. You can sit on the sand and watch the sunset in front of the islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell, or if you prefer, do it from the viewpoint just before descending to the beach.
Islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell
Cala d’Hort beach is located in a stretch of coastline that is part of the Es Vedrà, Es Vedranell, and Ponent Islets Natural Reserve. It’s a protected area known for its rich biodiversity of flora and fauna, with many endemic plant species that are of great interest due to their rarity. Additionally, you’ll find a variety of birds, lizards, and other species here, and it’s also one of the main breeding areas for birds of prey and marine birds, such as the Eleonora’s falcon.
It’s worth noting that many people come to this beach to get a close look at the Es Vedrà islet, which is surrounded by magical stories and legends, always shrouded in great mysticism. As it’s a protected area, access to the islets is prohibited, but if you want to get even closer, you can always rent a boat and sail around both islets.
Surroundings of Cala d’Hort

You can also take the opportunity to enjoy Ibiza’s cuisine at any of the restaurants you’ll find in Cala d’Hort and admire a unique panoramic view of Es Vedrà.
