Cala Bassa, a unique setting

Cala Bassa is a beach located in the western part of the island. Its fine sand and warm turquoise waters make it exceptional.

A dense pine forest and a fantastic natural environment surround the beach, awarded with a blue flag. It is common to find groups of visitors enjoying the peace and quiet under the shade of a pine tree or an old juniper.

At the easternmost end of the beach, there is an area of small cliffs where it is common for bathers to pile up to demonstrate their skills by performing jumps and other acrobatics.

If you want to visit Cala Bassa and find a place to lay your towel, it is important that you get there relatively early. Keep in mind that this is a beach that is quite crowded, especially during the months of July and August.

A beach with all facilities

Cala Bassa has a magnificent natural setting that is not at odds with a wide range of services.

On the beach, you have the possibility of renting sun loungers and parasols, as well as of practising an infinite number of water sports. But the highlight is undoubtedly the Cala Bassa Beach Club, a beach bar which, although it is not suitable for all budgets, is a good place to sit and have a drink or an ice cream. It occupies almost the entire beach, from end to end, and its restaurant offers you multiple gastronomic options for lunch or dinner.

In case you arrive with your own vehicle and you are an early riser, the beach has a paying car park. You currently pay 5 euros, but you’ll get a voucher valid for a soft drink or a beer at the beach bar.

Cala Bassa, a beach for families

This beach is a favourite for families with children. In addition to being an easily accessible beach with a wide range of services, its waters are clean, transparent and quite shallow. For this reason, it is ideal for the little ones to go for a dip and for parents to enjoy the peace and quiet – an attraction for the whole family!

As it is in an enclosed bay, it is protected from winds and tides, and looks more like a natural swimming pool than a beach. Cala Bassa also has a gentle slope and offers very good visibility from any point.

An added bonus is that the cove also has public toilets and a lifeguard service.

How to get to Cala Bassa

If you wish to reach the beach from the city of Ibiza, you must go to Sant Josep. There, take the PM-803 road and follow the turning to Cala Bassa and Cala Tarida.

If you are coming from Sant Antoni de Portmany, you won’t even have to take the car, as there is a regular ferry service that will drop you off at the cove itself after a 15-minute journey.
