If you’re looking for a good plan for summer nights in Ibiza, we suggest cinema and popcorn, but… under the stars and with the sound of the sea in the background!
Like every year, you can enjoy an endless number of open-air screenings of classic, premiere and original version films, scattered around different areas and enclaves on the island. Don’t miss out on them because they’re well worth it!
Outdoor cinema on Ibiza’s beaches
The island of Ibiza is the perfect setting for installing large cinema screens, so that fans of the seventh art can enjoy a unique cinematic experience.
Thanks to the private company Cinema Paradiso and in collaboration with the Consell Insular de Ibiza, every year, different screenings are organised on the island on multiple beaches, such as Talamanca, Figueretas and Cala Llonga.
These film sessions are held throughout the summer, until September. They usually start at 22:00 and the best thing about them is that they’re free of charge.
Cinema “a la fresca” in Dalt Vila
Dalt Vila, the old quarter of Ibiza Town, is another of the enclaves where film screenings are organised throughout the summer.
In fact, the first open-air film screening in Ibiza took place in a beautiful corner of the Baluarte de Sant Pere, one of the seven towers that form part of the city walls, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Some of the films that have been screened in previous editions are part of classic, premiere or cult cinema. Films like The Romance, The Godfather and The Big Lebowski, among many others, have been screened here.
Year after year, screenings continue to be organised on the murals of the city’s walls, an incomparable experience for summer evenings. In this case, the ticket includes a comfortable seat, a drink and something to eat.
Outdoor cinema at the Amante restaurant
Do you know the Amante Movie Nights? Every season, the restaurant Amante, located in Cala Llonga, organises its well-known open-air cinema in an exceptional location and surrounded by a magnificent setting.
This beautiful restaurant is completely transformed… Relax on one of their oversized pouffes, with popcorn, a glass of cava and a lot to look forward to… Don’t forget to bring a warm coat in case it gets chilly and, above all, book your seat in advance!
Some things to bear in mind
During this open-air cinema season in Ibiza, which runs well into September, the films shown are generally in English with Spanish subtitles.
At all the venues where the screenings take place you can enjoy comfortable seating, such as pouffes or deckchairs, as well as drinks and popcorn. Please note that you are not allowed to bring your own food and/or drink and, if it’s not a free screening, we recommend that you buy your tickets in advance online.
In addition to Dalt Vila or the beaches of Figueretas, Talamanca or Playa d’en Bossa, you can also enjoy open-air cinema in Santa Eulària or Sant Josep.
It’s also worth mentioning that throughout the summer season, all the cinemas in Ibiza, such as the Multicines in Ibiza town or the Cine Regio in Sant Antoni, show films in their original version with subtitles, a good opportunity to make the most of Ibiza’s nights.
