May has arrived and it seems that the heat is finally here to stay. After a few months of winter lethargy, the island awakens, offering a host of activities not to be missed.

Discover some medieval festivals and fairs, enjoy the atmosphere in the recently opened clubs, take a dip in its paradisiacal beaches, visit markets or lie in the sun to the rhythm of chill out music… These are just some of our suggestions for Ibiza in May. So, get your energy up and pack your bags, because the island is waiting for you. Are you coming?

1. May: the first dip of the year

During the month of May, the heat is on, and we can only recommend a swim in one of the island’s magnificent coves and beaches.

You cannot miss beaches such as Cala Salada or Cala Saladeta, near Santa Agnès. These are two charming little coves with golden sands and crystal-clear waters, considered by many to be the best in Ibiza.

You can also visit Es Figueral beach, located in the north-eastern part of the island, in Santa Eulàlia. It is a beautiful beach with views of the islet of Tagomago, where you can enjoy a day of relaxation. Who wouldn’t like to take a dip with this panoramic view? The list of beaches to recommend is endless, so we will only name a few of them. We recommend you take advantage of the warm, summery atmosphere at Aigües Blanques, Playa d’en Bossa, Cala Bassa or Sa Cala de Sant Vicent. Expect clear waters and golden sands that will bring you closer to paradise.

2. Festivals and medieval fairs in Ibiza during the month of May

The island of Ibiza hosts a number of popular festivals and mediaeval fairs during the month of May. The Festes de maig (May festivities) of Santa Eulàlia are perhaps one of the most outstanding. They take place on the first Sunday in May, coinciding with Mother’s Day. One of the most eagerly awaited activities is the carriage parade, in which men and women dress up in typical Ibizan costumes. Definitely also worth seeing are the horse shows and the exhibition of antique motorbikes.

Likewise, in mid-May, the Medieval Fair is held in the historic center of the city of Ibiza. The streets of the walled city are decorated and filled with numerous medieval craft and food stalls, which attract a large number of people. The Cathedral of Ibiza is one of the settings of the Medieval Fair that you can’t miss.

3. Openings in May: the first electronic music sessions in Ibiza

The time has come for many of Ibiza’s venues, such as Pacha, Ushuaïa, Hï, Amnesia and Privilege, to open their doors. In addition, the opening parties take place throughout the month, marking the start of the long-awaited summer season on the island.

Clubs, bars and beach clubs are filled with joy, fun and good music hosted by the most prestigious DJs. Be sure to visit Playa d’en Bossa, where you’ll find some of Ibiza’s best-known beach clubs and discotheques.

4. Hiking in Ibiza

And if you’re one of those who prefer to enjoy the outdoors and nature… Don’t worry! We’ve also got plans for you this May. Hiking is a great way to explore the island in depth. You’ll have fun and get some exercise at the same time.

There are numerous hiking routes in Ibiza. Some of the best known are the Es Broll route, which starts in the town of Forada, in the Buscastell area, and runs through the interior of the island; the route that will take you to Sa Cova des Pouàs, in Santa Agnès de Corona; the route of Ses Roques Altes, in the area around Sa Talaia in Sant Josep; or the route that will take you to Cala d’Aubarca, on the north coast of Ibiza. As you can see, Ibiza has a lot to offer…And being able to do so during the month of May is a real treat! Enjoy our plans, in peace and quiet and without having to stand any crowds.
