After the coldest temperatures of winter, the month of March arrives with its first rays of sun, anticipating the arrival of spring. Despite the fact that Ibiza still breathes a lot of calm and peace, there are many plans that you can do on the island and that you shouldn’t miss out on.
Here we’ll show you information about popular festivals, fairs, exhibitions, theater performances and other special events. We hope that you enjoy them!
Feast of Gerret in Santa Eulària des Riu
Next Saturday, March 4, in Santa Eulària, an important gastronomic event will be held on the island where the main protagonist is gerret, a very popular blue fish in Ibizan gastronomy. You can try it in different ways, either fried, stewed or pickled.
To promote this tasty fish, many restaurants in the town offer delicious recipes made with this essential ingredient. In fact, the Eivissa and Sant Antoni associations[1] come together to offer tastings of different tapas and gerret dishes.
If you are a lover of good food, you cannot miss this gastronomic proposal. In addition, you can enjoy live music, various entertainment activities and the festive atmosphere that fills the town’s streets.
The month of March also hosts a new edition of the Cuttlefish Gastronomic Festival in Sant Joan de Labritja, a gastronomic event where restaurants, associations and even families participate in a contest whose objective is to find the best dish made with cuttlefish.
And if tapas and pinchos are your thing, from March 24 to April 14, a new edition of the Pintxa Sant Antoni will be held with tastings, live music, gastronomic contests and much more.
Nordic walking in Sant Josep de Sa Talaia
To celebrate the end of winter, there is nothing better than enjoying Nordic walking while getting some exercise.
The Sant Josep Town Hall has organized a series of programmed routes that will allow you to discover some of the most beautiful corners of the island. Next Sunday, March 12, at 10 in the morning, you will have the opportunity to discover the surroundings of Cala Bassa and the beaches of Comte. The activity is free and open to all levels. All you have to do is register in advance at the town hall or show up 30 minutes before the start of the excursion.
Cursa de Passeig a Passeig in Santa Eulària des Riu
If you are in top shape, without the shadow of a doubt, this activity is for you! On Sunday, March 19, this 15-kilometre excursion takes place, including also an 8-kilometre bike ride and a 15-kilometre race on skates.
Dramatized visits around Dalt Vila
If you prefer calmer plans, you should take note that the first Saturday of March begins the yearly dramatized guided tours organized by the city council to publicize the historic center of Ibiza, better known as Dalt Vila.
These visits recreate the history of this beautiful walled enclosure and, as if it were a journey through time, they allow you to delve into its most emblematic corners. In addition, you will discover what society was like in the 16th century, with its customs, curiosities, love affairs and secrets.
The visits begin at the Portal de ses Taules and are organized every Saturday, from March to December, with different schedules and routes.
These are just some of our suggestions for the month of March in Ibiza. If you prefer, you can also go hiking in Ibiza’s northern corner, visit markets, discover museums or take a route through the island’s coves, churches or villages. Up to you!
