Just a 10-minute drive from Playa d’en Bossa or Ibiza Town, Es Cavallet is one of those beaches that defines the island’s most authentic character. Wild, open to the sea and surrounded by salt flats and pine groves, it blends protected nature, a free-spirited atmosphere and an energy that evolves throughout the day. From Blau Parc Hotels, we encourage you to discover it at your own pace, enjoying both the journey and the destination.
A privileged setting in the Ses Salines Natural Park
Located in the heart of the Ses Salines Natural Park, Es Cavallet is a stretch of white sand measuring approximately 1.1 kilometres in length and between 30 and 40 metres in width. It is protected by dunes and a small green belt of junipers and pine trees that separates it from the salt ponds, creating a unique landscape in Ibiza.
The scenic drive past the salt flats is already part of the experience. On clear days, you can see Ibiza Town from the shore, as well as the outline of Formentera on the horizon. At one end, perched on the rocks, stands the historic Torre de Ses Portes, the perfect spot to round off the day with a sunset stroll.
An officially nudist and diverse beach
Es Cavallet was Ibiza’s first official nudist beach and remains one of the island’s leading naturist spots. The central area, backed by dunes, is the most popular with those who practise nudism, although in reality bathers with and without swimwear coexist in a relaxed and respectful atmosphere.
At the southern end, much of the island’s LGTBIQ+ scene gathers, making it an international meeting point during the summer. Here you will find the well-known Chiringay, which combines sun loungers, cocktails and music in a lively and carefree setting.
The northern section, closer to the car park, attracts a varied crowd and is popular with those seeking beachfront dining and a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day.
Atmosphere, sport and nature in its purest form
Facing east, Es Cavallet frequently receives easterly winds that generate waves and add dynamism to the scenery. When the wind blows strongly, the beach becomes a playground for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. On calmer days, its shallow waters invite you to enjoy long swims and strolls along the shore.
In summer, the combination of soft electronic music, cocktails and sunbeds creates a balance between relaxation and social buzz. In winter, the beach reveals its more serene side: wide sandy walks, silence and that special feeling of comfortable isolation.
As this is a protected natural area, it is essential to respect the rules, care for the surroundings and bear in mind that it is a non-smoking beach. Keeping it clean and preserving its dunes is everyone’s responsibility.
Beach bars and restaurants with character
Along the beach you will find several establishments where you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine right by the sea.
At the northern end, La Escollera stands out, with its terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, ideal for savouring rice dishes and fresh fish. Nearby, you will also find El Chiringuito, an elegant beach club with a restaurant and boutique that has become a popular venue for celebrations and weddings.
At the southern end, as mentioned, Chiringay is the epicentre of the island’s daytime LGTBIQ+ scene. It starts to fill up around midday and, as the afternoon progresses, the atmosphere becomes increasingly festive.
Services and practical tips for your visit
Es Cavallet offers sun lounger and parasol hire, showers (currently limited to save water), restaurants, bars and a small boutique. Even so, we recommend bringing sun protection, water and some cash during high season.
To get there, you can choose from:
- Car: from Ibiza Town (10 km) or Playa d’en Bossa (6 km). Access is straightforward by following the road towards Ses Salines. However, the northern car park is small and in summer it can become quite a challenge to find a space. In low season, parking is much easier.
- Bicycle: there is a cycle lane along part of the route, although we advise caution due to traffic.
- Bus: regular services run from Ibiza Town and Playa d’en Bossa, with a stop near the access road.
A good tip in summer is to park at Las Salinas Beach (paid parking) and walk about 20 minutes to the southern end of Es Cavallet. The path crosses a pine forest that provides very pleasant shade, especially during the hottest hours of the day.
An experience that captures the essence of Ibiza
Es Cavallet is not just a beach; it is a statement of intent. Protected nature, freedom, diversity and a balance between tranquillity and atmosphere that few beaches can offer. If you want to experience Ibiza at its most authentic, far from large developments and surrounded by spectacular scenery, this beach deserves a prominent place on your itinerary.
From Blau Parc Hotels, we invite you to include it in your next getaway and discover why it remains one of the island’s most emblematic stretches of sand.
