The best beaches in Formentera to enjoy with the family

Despite being the smallest island of the Balearic Islands, Formentera has beaches to suit everyone’s tastes: beaches that are perfect for children, for diving, for nudism, as well as quiet and livelier beaches.

Migjorn Beach

If you’re looking for a beach to go to with the family, you can’t miss Migjorn beach: a long beach, located on the south coast of Formentera, which offers a wide variety of services. It has a free car park, access to the beach for people with reduced mobility and plenty of terraces and restaurants.

Es Pujols

You can also visit Es Pujols: a quiet, accessible and very comfortable beach, which also has many services. The only drawback is that during the summer months it can get quite crowded.

Cala Saona

Cala Saona, 5 kilometres from Sant Francesc, is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It stands out for its calm and shallow waters, and for offering impressive sunsets. It has traditional fishermen’s huts and several beach bars.

Best beaches in Formentera for diving

Due to the excellent quality and transparency of its waters, there are many beaches in Formentera, perfect for diving or snorkelling.

Cavall d’en Borràs

One of these beaches is known as Cavall d’en Borràs. This is the first beach you come across upon entering the Eivissa and Formentera Salt Flats Natural Park. It is not as well known as Ses Illetes beach, but thanks to its dune system, its juniper forest and the transparency of its waters, it is also fabulous. Moreover, from here you can see the islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell. It is perfect for diving because you will find areas of posidonia oceanica on the seabed.

Caves for diving

The caves of Punta Rasa, Punta Prima, Cala en Baster or Ses Platgetes are other perfect places for diving in Formentera.

The best nudist beaches in Formentera

Ses Illetes

Ses Illetes beach, located within the Ses Salines Natural Park, is one of the best nudist beaches in Formentera. In fact, many consider it to be the best beach on the island.

It is a beach of fine white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, which has all the services you could need. It stands out for its calm and the shallowness of its waters, which also makes it perfect for visiting with children.

Caló des Mort

Another of the ideal beaches for the practice of nudism is Cala Caló des Mort, located 14 kilometres from La Savina. It is a beach barely 70 metres long, flanked by various cliffs and from where you can contemplate magnificent sunsets.

More beaches and coves for nudism

You can also practise nudism at Arenals Beach, Racó de S’Alga or Llevant Beach, among many others.

Other beaches in Formentera that you can’t miss

Other beaches that deserve special attention in Formentera are those on the island of Espalmador, within the Ses Salines Natural Park. They are almost virgin beaches, among which Es Racó de s’Alga stands out.

You can also enjoy Es Ram, practically unknown and difficult to access; or Cala en Baster, a rocky cove, quiet and with exceptional views.

This is just a brief selection, but bear in mind that it is difficult to choose the best beaches and coves in Formentera, when many of the island’s beaches have a unique beauty. And now… Let’s enjoy them!
